Insurance carriers use formulas; juries don't. Here's how settlement values are estimated and negotiated.
Settlement values reflect economic damages (medical bills, lost wages, future earnings), non-economic damages (pain and suffering), and case-specific factors (liability strength, venue, defendant assets).
Adjuster software (Colossus, ClaimIQ) generates internal valuations based on injury codes, treatment duration, and other inputs. Plaintiffs' attorneys don't see those numbers but know roughly how they work.
Pain-and-suffering multipliers are the most variable component. Multipliers commonly range from 1.5x to 5x economic damages depending on injury severity and venue.
Pre-settlement funding decisions also estimate expected recovery based on these inputs. AARC's projections are conservative to protect both you and us.
Talk to your attorney about realistic settlement ranges before applying for funding. The clearer the recovery picture, the better the funding match.
